Text Box: After an immense amount of effort, the pond 2 project is now showing the results of perseverance. the big clay hole has now transformed into a handsome lake with features such as islands and deep holes to promote and enhance the natural water inhabitants. islands will allow water fowl to nest in peace, far enough from the shore line to prevent raiding foxes from stealing eggs or chicks. steep bank sides are excellent for the water voles to build their network of excavations and continue to thrive in this natural area .We hope that we can continue this progress of improvements and proceed to enhance pond 1 with similar success. work to date on pond 1 has involved pumping silt from the lake bed, trenching a further 3 feet into the lake bed with a long arm mechanical digger- increasing the water holding volume immensely. further actions have recreated further swims and reduced reed overgrowth and crowding..
